The Roller Fairlead will do nothing to guide the cable when spooling. All of my comments below are in regards to steel cable. Leaving the hood open during winching is wise as it acts as a shield between the person in the driver's seat and the winch should the cable snap and fly back toward the rig.Whooooppss, gotta counter this statement. The truck side of the plug is hard mounted between the bezel and the radiator support just behind the grill. If you look close you can see the red plug for the winch sitting just above the fairlead. This is my setup with WARN Powerplant on WARN Multi Mount. This is of course my OPINION and I could very possibly be wrong. Most bumpers out there for the FJ use the same mounting points so it stands to reason that the loads are transferred to the frame in the same manner. The same is true of a bumper mounted winch, loads are transferred to the bumper and then back to the frame. If the bumper has a 2" receiver in it and the multi mount is mounted to that it would be logical that the stress of winching is transferred to the bumper which in turn is transferred to the frame of the vehicle. I don't know if I agree that this setup puts undue stress on the frame vs. Anyone have experience with any of these? what do you all recommend? any input greatly appreciated. ARB Magnum Hand WinchĪt this point I am leaning towards the more power puller(#1) as it appears to be solid built, smaller and about the weight of the others. ARB Magnum hand winch 5300ld pulling capacity. The Tuff-Pull 4WD Recovery Winch - 7700 lb.Ĥ.

The Black Rat hand winch rated for 7700lbs(can be double with use of snatch block correct?) this is basically a copy of the Tifors.Ġ3. Griphoist(Tifor) the Tu32 is rated for 8000 lbs but looks like a huge BRICK.will the smaller ones work with the FJ? ther is one rated at 4000 if you use a snatch block you double the load right? Distributor of Griphoist Tirfor TU Heavy-Duty Range | TorqHoist, Ohio, USAģ. More power puller, I like the 3 ton with 12k( It says 6 tons or 12k pulling load with double line.does that mean using a snatch block?). I have narrowed the choices down to these:ġ. I dont need a full blown electrical winch as stated above it will probably hardly get used, not to mention my FJ is a daily driver and dont want all the extra weight all the time. But it would be nice to have something a little more powerful on hand JUST in case.

Ok guys and gals I have decided that I think this is the best route for me to take, I dont do any hardcore offroading and will always be with others.so straps and getting pulled is the most used method of recovery.
